6 days of Berlin – 3rd day

Its not easy, to decide where Friedrichshain ends and Kreuzberg begins. To cross the line is nearly unremarkable and when you don’t know about, hardly to recognize. The shady arcades of Oberbaumbrücke with the views of Molecule Man and „The Pink Man“ of BLU, is some kind of no-mans’s-land and comes closest to a border. It escaped […]

STYRO – pieces of art, short-lived and much coveted amongst the fans

In Berlin Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain I came across a number of stunning 3D installations, made of styrofoam. Those installations (styro-cuts) are rare, once installed, they are taken away soon, as they have many adorers.

6 days of Berlin – 2nd day

Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg – that was the question. starting my 2nd day in Berlin, onto the track of 1st Berlin Mural Fest. The map showed me the way; the decision for Friedrichshain was easy: worst things first. Friedrichshain is always crowded by tourists, especially around East Side Gallery. I hate their selfie-mania. Self-regarding, reckless and […]

EL BOCHO – CITY GIRL WITH GLASSES

The characters of EL BOCHO are varied. First of all in his illustrious selection of characters is „Little Lucy“ the cat hater, „Pete“ a sweet little bird, „Kalle & Bernd“, the two surveillance cameras and their passion for observation and his melancholic „City Girls“. I do not remember seeing one of his girls with glasses […]

6 days of Berlin – 1st day

Berlin, you drive me crazy! My visit last year was hard, but I thought I had understand simple directions how to get from X to Y, by foot or public transport. Wrong! This is 2018 and everything has changed again. Entrances and exits, traffic lights, zebra crossings – not to be found at the expected […]

Art vs. Crisis

When Klaus Klinger opens his studio to the public, you do well not to hesitate; you’d better run and take a glimpse, especially if there is someting to celebrate like 40 years of street art in Düsseldorf. The first mural in Düsseldorf dates from 1987, the year when Farbfieber was founded and registered. This was […]

Os Gêmeos at Oberbilker Allee 287 – work in progress

I would like to draw your attention to Düsseldorf, where actually Otávio und Gustavo Pandolfo, better known as  Os Gêmeos (São Paulo), are to be seen working on a new mural at Oberbilker Allee 287. The pictures shown were made this morning. More pictures -> click

Apropos Tribute to Banksy

I hesitated a long time, if I should say something about this wall. No doubt, this piece of workmanship seems to be better than the tags before, but – and this is a big but – what seems to be a betterment at first sight, is an impertinence afterwards. BANKSY’s Balloon Girl slightly amended and […]

1st Berlin Mural Fest

I must confess, Berlin is in my bad books, even if I’m in preparations for a Berlin trip next week. To be fair, it’s not Berlin I work off, but Berlin and it’s 1st Mural Festival – and The Dixons. When I heard about that festival in February, organized by The Dixons, I was euphoric. […]

Bombhugger – Tribute to Banksy

Probably the most famous street artist, BANKSY, is often copied, or to put it another way, his ideas and motifs are copied worldwide. His stencils in black&white are highly expressive and have a high recognizing value. Not long ago I met his „bombhugger“ in Bonn. The original by Banksy shows a young girl hugging a military […]
