11 Walls / 11 Goals – Gelsenkirchen

With 11 Walls 11 Goals Viva con Agua ARTS and MILLERNTOR GALLERY, are creating a space for art that creates connections and moves and activates people across borders. Art and sport, like culture and music, are universal languages that are understood all over the world. The project aims to use art and music to set an example for the values of the European community. It is intended to arouse anticipation for the UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany. In the run-up to the football festival, eleven international street artists will be creating eleven murals on large-scale walls in the ten host cities (Berlin, Leipzig, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund). The design of each wall is the individual expression of a social goal to which the artists are dedicated. [1}
The Spanish artist Lidia Cao specialises in faces and figures and has left her contribution to the project in Gelsenkirchen Ückendorf at Bochumer Straße 145. The Insane Urban Cowboys & -girls and the lively centre for (sub)culture ‘Hier ist nicht da’, have actively supported her. It is hardly a coincidence that the new mural makes a grand entrance in the Schalke colours blue and white. Gelsenkirchen is crazy about football.
