Changing identities or double identities are not uncommon in street art and graffiti. Whether artists use this to separate their professional and freelance works, or whether it is a matter of demarcating a developmental step, for the observer without insider knowledge it is not easy to stay on the track of an artist who has changed identity. Unless the style is unmistakable.

At first it wasn’t clear to me whose exhibition was being announced, but after a look at the corresponding Instagram profile it quickly became clear. Dortmund based artist BIRD has reinvented himself and now operates under the name BYRDO. To accompany his current exhibition at Gallerage, he has left a new mural at Atelierhaus Schützenbahn.
