The underpass of A 42 motorway at „Gelsenkirchen Zoo“ station on the B227 (Bismarckstraße) is the entrance gate to the city of Gelsenkirchen for many visitors. For many users it was an inhospitable place to be. In 2020 a new lighting concept for the subway was created to bring light into darkness. The lighting shines in a different colour every day of the week since then. Additionally Dan Geffert aka SPONK brought in his expertise for a new outfit. As a result, the city of Gelsenkirchen received a new cultural calling card.

Savannah meets urban jungle over a length of around forty metres. The common carrier pigeon, racehorse of the miner, watches over an alley cat that has no chance of catching the exotic bird. The tunnel exit, guarded by the Lion King, gives a foretaste of ZOOM – World of experience, located in the immediate vicinity.
