Take a Butcher’s Gallery shows “CONCRETE, RUST & UNTOLD STORIES”

The first show with exclusively German artists at Take a Butchers Gallery, which was opened last Saturday, is a group show with works of three outstanding artists, Christian Rothenhagen aka deerBLN based in Berlin, René Meyer aka RYMR, Leipzig and Stefan Winterle, based in Weil am Rhein.

I love those urban landscapes created by Christian Rothenhagen with only a few monochromatic lines. The facades and scenes seem to be old fashioned and from times long past. He deals with urban life and urban change, with always a very personal perspective. His main focus is on his hometown Berlin and his second home San Francisco.

Incredible what this man can do with a knife and templates. Since almost a decade ago, RMYR has worked to produce perfect, intricate stencils with focus on complex industrial architecture and urban landscapes. And he has brought it to the top. His abandoned places spread a special feeling.

Stefan Winterle – for me a complete surprise! I didn’t come across the pieces of this artist ever – and that’s quite remarkable in sight of these stunning stencils. His roots are in graffiti, but since 2000 he deals with stencil art. He often works on paving stones and concrete curbs.

The exhibition runs until the end of the year. Please note their opening times:

Tuesday – Friday: 11 am – 6.30 pm
Saturday: 11 am – 3.30 pm
