During Hafendampf weekend the jam was in my focus, but all the time when I was at Franz-Fischer-Weg, I had to pass HoF at Frillendorfer Platz, which is one of those HoF you have to ask for permission to spray on. That is why it’s face doesn’t change that often. In 2014 and 2015, during construction works at Essen’s city port, where traditionally Hafendampf takes place, the festival was outsourced here. Most of the pieces designed during Hafendampf 2015 were still there untouched, as if there were a silent agreement in the community of writers, not to touch them – until Saturday. Then things have begun to stir and even actually to move.
