I would like to draw your attention to the current show „BASQUIAT. BOOM FOR REAL“ at the Schirn in Frankfurt. It is on show until 27th May. And what has that got to do with Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse? Well – they all are members of 27 Club which is a list of popular musicians, artists, or actors who died at age twenty-seven, often as a result of drug and alcohol abuse. Jean-Michel Basquiat started in New York in the 1970ies as graffiti writer and emerged to one of the most important artists of the 20th century. He was the first coloured artist to prevail the white art elite. Andy Warhol made him famous. He was a phenomenon and exceptional. Don’t miss it!
