In April 2016 a new gallery has been opened as a producers gallery by artists for artists in Essen near main station. Situated in Juliusstraße 17, in the immediate vicinity of Aalto Theatre and Essen Philharmonic Hall, on narrow space in a former foot care practice, the two artists Holger Krüssmann and Jörg Meuser have started this new gallery. They just have opened a new exhibition of Karan Reshad, a young Essen based artist with Persian roots. He calls his characters „Urban Primitives“ and with his unique and distinctive style he is deeply rooted in the Middle East tradition and calligraphy. Dandoon ist the Persian meaning of „tooth“. The exhibited works tell stories about pains; the inspiration behind derives from two painful incidents: exile and toothache. It documents the mental and emotional transformations during a period when the artists attitude towards society and dealing with pain was changing. For me this exhibition was a challenge. Most of the works are framed behind glass and thus really hard to make pictures of. The reflections have driven me nearly into madness. I was very unhappy with my fotos but the exhibition is awesome and absolutely worth visiting.
