UFAM Ruhr – Hamm

006.JPGWhen UFAM Ruhr started in August, 3 months ago, the first mural was designed in Hamm at the new hip MuseumsQuarter near main station by artist collective SilbernesReh.  I took some pictures, but the full effect of the facade of an old substation (Friedrichstraße / Heinrich-Reinköster Straße), designed with a turtle swimming deep blue waters, was concealed by the scaffolding.  143It was long overdue to take an unobstructed view. So it was clear, where my next walk  in Hamm would start. The plan was to walk to Martin Luther Quarter next, where the epicentre of Creative Quarter Hamm is located. Johannes Mundinger & 44 Flavours have designed a facade at Nordstraße / Brüderstraße for UFAM Ruhr in October. They have collaborated in a lot of exhibitions 018a.jpgbut never painted a  wall together before. So I made my way to Nordstraße and stumbled quite unexpectedly upon an awesome wall, a collaboration of Jan Schoch x Peter Petersen (both originators and curators of UFAM Ruhr) and Hannes Schlachter. WOW! I didn’t count all those murals and great names to be mentioned in connection with UFAM Ruhr; for me personally, this is the highlight of UFAM Ruhr so far. I don’t know if there is more to come. All I know is, a lot has to be happen to top this wall! Convince yourself at Willy-Brandt-Platz / Neue Bahnhofstraße.
