At the November-weekends Peter Eisold, winner of Mülheimer Ruhrpreis für Kunst und Wissenschaft 2016 and Teresa Grünhage, Jens Maria Weber and the „LichtGestalten“ Matthias Plenkmann and Christian Spieß transform the north side of the inner city of Essen into the Galvanic Zone. Participants of the event assemble at the „Forum für Kunst & Architektur“ at Kopstadtplatz in Essen, are equipped with wireless headphones and get started with the invitation to school and follow the android – „You’re safe in the swarm“. Important notes, game instructions and an epic tale of the history of the north side of Essen the flaneurs get with their headphones. Video-Projections and facade-mappings are the stations of a parcours that takes up the special features of the quarter but confusing by reinterpretation of the well known locations. Trash bins are converted to micro theaters, abandoned properties are playgrounds for exhibitions and installations. Passants without headphones are chanceless to understand what’s going on. Most of them stand and stare in a vain attempt to look behind the curtain. Interested? Hurry up, two more weekends to join the tour, but the tickets are limited!
