This weekend is a challenge as summer rehearses rebellion. There were two fixed dates at Friday when the first wall of UFAM Ruhr was painted in Hamm by artist collective SilbernesReh at a wall of an old substation (Friedrichstraße / Heinrich-Reinköster Straße).
Where previously an old power station, a fire station and public baths were situated, there is the new hip MuseumsQuarter near Hamm main station under construction now. The old substation is filled with technology and couldn’t be pulled down as it is essential for electricity supply of the inner city. The facade has got a facelifting now, making it an immediate eye-catcher by artist collective SilbernesReh. Undoubted that this will be an important location factor for the marketing of the real estate. As summer rehearsed rebellion, the metal rods of the scaffolding platform were heated extremely and the artists were forced to interrupt their work. Later in the evening: Dortmund. 44309 Street//Art Gallery and UFAM Ruhr opened a group show with a selection of emerging street and urban artists. I tried to survive and looked out for locations with air-condition. My recommandation for Hamm: Gustav-Lübcke-Museum; paradisiacal cooled area with Roman and Egyptian note. Dortmund is easy, The U always is the best address.
